We are recruiting for an experience IT manager from the professional services industry based in Preston. You must have people management experience and be passionate about software delivery and forward-thinking technology leader.

Some duties include but not limited

• People management, including performance, mentoring and developing the team.
• Supplier negotiation and SLA’s
• Ability to design, plan, manage and co-ordinate technical, infrastructure and
development projects
• Understanding of the technology landscape and to articulate that into a cost
effective IT strategy
• Develop, implement and monitor an annual business plan and budget to support
implementation of the IT strategy across the firm, including providing a quarterly
update to the Executive Board
• Full understanding of software licensing models, in particular, Microsoft
• Preparation and maintenance of up-to-date technical documentation
• Developing standard operating procedures aligned to best practice, and ensuring
written protocols and guidelines are provided for it staff and all end-users
• Ensuring written documentation is created and maintained, to include user and system
manuals, licence agreements and all documentation relating to modifications and
upgrades
• Creating a budget for each project as well as managing the financial aspects of the
entire IT department such as purchases and ongoing budgeting
• Providing expert advice and support when systems are being upgraded or installed, or
when there are conversions or file maintenance
• Understanding of data protection and specifically the new GDPR regulations
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for security, backup and disaster
recovery

Technical skills (Essential for this role)

• Experience working within a full virtual desktop environment – Citrix Xenapp 7.5
• Experience managing and maintaining network infrastructure (Vmware ESX 5.5, Netapp,
Cisco switches)
• Experience dealing with IP telephony (Cisco Call Manager)
• Experience using Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Exchange/Exchange online,
SQL, Office 365)
• Experience of managed print solutions
• Managing the deployment, development, monitoring, maintenance, upgrading and support
of organisational IT systems. This will include operating systems, servers, PCs,
software apps, telephones and peripherals
• Experience working with security best practices (Cyber Essential Plus)

Qualifications/Experience

• Bachelors degree in Programming, Computer Science or related field
• 4+ years management experience in an IT environment
• Desirable – PRINCE 2 Practitioner
